Amos 7:1-9
Part 9 - Like a Roaring Lion

Like a Roaring Lion – Part 9 Amos 7:1-9 Detour – The man of God delivers the Word of God because he doesn’t want the judgement of God to fall on the people of God (7:2, 5). • But here’s what you need to know. The church of Jesus needs a wake-up call. Just like Amos and others were used in years past to get the attention of the people of God, we need people who will do the same today. • Amos warned the people and he petitioned the Creator. That’s a great pattern by the way. • The man of God delivers the Word of God because he doesn’t want the judgement of God to fall on the people of God. 1) Nothing will thwart God’s plan to save and keep a people (7:1-6). • Now here’s the good news. Anybody need some good news? Not once, but twice, God makes it clear that he will not destroy his people. • Abraham said, “Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city. Will you then sweep away the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous who are in it?” And the God responds, “If I find at Sodom fifty righteous in the city, I will spare the whole place for their sake” (reference - Genesis 18:24-26). • As J. A. Motyer notes, “No earthly calamity can threaten the continuance of the people of God.” Nothing will thwart God’s plan to save and keep a people. 2) Nothing will escape God’s eye for attention to details of obedience (7:7-9).
